How to access and print reports

How do you get to the reports?

You can download the reports and print them in two places:

  • From the Dashboard when you click the button “Download My Data”
  • On the left sidebar, when you click the link Tax Reports (and then click the third box on the top for “Download My Records”)
The Dashboard Screen, showing the left sidebar (and Tax Reports link)

Both will get you access to all of the donation reports of all types.

Accessing the Tax Reports Tab

This tab gives you access to three sets of choices for reports:

First, the Export to TurboTax tab:

From there, you can export to TurboTax Desktop. Full instructions here.

Second, you can access reports that are valuable for your CPA under Give My CPA Reports:

Which includes your Form 8283 Statement as well as a donation summary for the entire year.

And lastly, your third option is to Download Other Reports:

What you see in the middle will depend on what you’ve donated throughout the year. The example above shows only Item donations, but you could have Mileage, Money or Stock donations as well.

Accessing the Download My Data Dialog

In addition to Tax Reports, you can click Download My Data and see all of these reports available to you as well:

What kind of reports can you access?

Deductible Duck has three kinds of reports you can access:

  • PDF reports (for printing or archiving)
  • CSV reports (for archiving or for number crunching/other report generation)
  • HTML reports (for printing or previewing the reports you get from the files)

You can also export TXF files for TurboTax, which we cover in a different article for TurboTax Desktop Importing.

The type of report you need depends on what you want to do with it.

  • PDF Reports: Best for printing out or sending to your CPA
  • HTML Reports: Quick access to see what a report might look like/what it contains. Can also print these if you like.
  • CSV Reports: Best to save when you want to do something with the numbers–like add them up, or use them in some other calculations.

You can also access Form 8283 Worksheets from the Tax Reports page (under “Give Reports to my CPA”)

Which reports are best for printing?

The PDF reports are ideal for printing out and keeping in your hard copy records. Or you can use them to send to your CPA/tax preparer as supporting documentation.
